A Postponed Reality deals with the dreams of Palestinian women to live a beautiful, simple reality.
The artist portrays women through an eye that aspires for change, but these are morose glimpses due to delays in that change under the excuse of the ongoing occupation. Every time there is thought of changing women's realities, it is postponed because of the exceptionality of the Palestinian cause. Even women themselves delay that change.
Kaabneh was inspired by true stories heard on a daily basis from women in her family, from her friends and from her environment. These stories have lived inside her for a long time. She imagined the details of these stories and felt the suffering of their narrators, letting her emotions out through the artwork.
The women are portrayed using watercolours to emphasise the hardships of change. The difficulty of painting in watercolour becomes a metaphor for the difficulty women encounter. Acrylics on canvas are also used.
