About the work
Transitional Landscape and Escaping the Land focus on the periphery of the city. Men stand before the immense mist shrouded sea, contemplating ships in transit or awaiting permission to cross. While their small silhouettes appear to connect the sky to the beach, subtle narratives unfold through these anonymous figures who walk and watch along the shoreline, echoing the still ships. The images can be seen as poetic, but also express how individuals are directly and radically affected by social, political and environmental challenges. They suggest the longing of disenchanted young man, who often still dream of traveling across the water to France.
