Ausstellung in Darat al Funun - The Khalid Shoman Foundation, Amman, Jordanien, 4. Sept. - 4. Okt. 2012
Sep 2012"I try to create a visual language accessible to different audiences, a language that transcends the specificities of culture, be it Eastern or Western. I view such a universal language as the absolute means for articulating and discussing emotions as they themselves are universal."
Amal Kenawy passed away the first day of Eid el Fitr, August 19. She was a passionate artist and a very dear friend. Our loss is great, but she is not absent, her art lives.
Darat al Funun invites you to join us in remembering Amal and celebrate her art and life.
Born in 1974 in Cairo, Amal Kenawy was a prolific artist. She worked in a wide range of media, drawing, painting, sculpture, video art and performance. She was awarded many prestigious awards such as The Grand Prize of the 2012 Cairo Biennial, the 2010 Sharjah Biennial award, The Golden Prize for the 23 Alexandria Biennial, and the Prize for the Best Animated Film of the 12th Cairo International Film Festival.
