Sep 2011

The Instituto Sacatar operates a residency program for creative individuals in all disciplines at its estate on the Island of Itaparica in the Bay of All Saints, across from the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

In partnership with the Instituto Sacatar, the UNESCO/Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Programme will award three bursaries to Sacatar in 2012. The bursaries will be awarded in music and/or music composition, visual arts and creative writing. We interpret visual arts in the broadest terms possible: painting, sculpture, handicrafts, printmaking, photography, ceramics, film, video, installation, performance art, etc. Creative writing applicants may submit writing samples in any language, but the samples must also be accompanied by a translation into at least one of these languages: English, French, Spanish or Portuguese. Every effort will be made to evaluate the writing in its original language, but if not viable, the writing samples will be evaluated in translation.
