In an ironical parody of the scientific method, the Quintapata collective points to the possibility of using such an everyday item as chewing gum to trace someone’s DNA – after chewing on a stick of gum, people inevitably leave indications of their identity on it. These pieces of gum can often be found hidden beneath a table or in furniture cracks; an expression of a discreet social transgression. In the video, four people transmit in unison some invented rules for the protocol of using chewing gum – a Dadaist delirium on good manners and a sarcastic take on the guidelines that determine social practices.
Das Publikum ist aufgefordert, einen Kaugummi aus dem Behälter neben dem Video zu nehmen, zu kauen und auf die Bildfläche zu kleben.
