Ancestral Worship. 2010
Cotton, wood and screen print
Commissioned by Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane for "21st Century: Art in the First Decade". Courtesy of the artist, Tolarno Galleries, and Galerie Nathalie Obadia
Installation view: 2015 Asian Art Biennial, Taiwan
The project proposes to reflect on cultures that may be seen as historical and forgotten, but as a matter of fact have influence today through design, language and culture. The artist challenges the visitors to decide if it is respectful or disgraceful to sit or not on the faces of the ancestors printed on the folding beach chairs.
