Radiocarbon dates indicate that al-Buhais 18 was frequented from about 5200 to 4000 BC.
The Neolithic cemetery of al-Buhais 18 (BHS18) is located in the desert between the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman in the Central Region of the Emirate of Sharjah. It was discovered in 1995 by a local archaeological team directed by Dr Sabah A. Jasim.
A Joint Project of the Institute of Pre- and Protohistory and Medieval Archaeology of Tübingen University and the Directorate of Antiquities of the Department of Culture and Information of the Govt. of Sharjah was agreed upon in 1995. An international team of scientists and students did excavations and research at al-Buhais 18 from 1996 to 2005.
