North of the Stylite tower there is a two storey building of trimmed local limestone blocks. It's function is not clear but possibly it was a watching post constructed in that remote direction from the southern mainquarter of Mefaa to control the water reservoirs and the agricultural fields and to protect the semi isolated Stylite tower and adjacent church.
