Dedicatory inscription at the east end of the central nave pavement: “At the time of the most pious Bishop Sergius, this holy temple was built and completed by the care of the Priest Wa’il in the month of Dius of the fifth indiction of the year 481 [586 AD]. This is the priest and his servant.”
