Urn Tomb

It is the tomb of a very important Nabataean king, quite probably Aretas IV "Philopatris" who reigned from 9 BC to 40 AD, the zenith of the Nabataean Kingdom. The substructure of arched vaults extending the forecourt has been added later, in the Byzantine period when the tomb was converted into a Christian church (up from 447 AD).
