The mosaic floor is well preserved and was not disfigured by iconoclasts. It is one of the most beautiful and interesting mosaics in Madaba.
The medallion at the center of the carpet, 2.2 m in diameter, is decorated with a personification of the Sea (Thalassa) - see the next page.
Birds (parrots, parakeets?) facing each other in pairs create a grid of diamond shapes, enriched by flowers, fruits and leaves.
Of particular note are the scenes of youths and animals on three sides of the acanthus scrolls and in the western and eastern surround of the nave.
