North from Al-Ain Plaza, the stairs uphill surround the English Complex to reach the Al-Qala'a viewpoint, continuing further to the churches Dormition of Virgin Mary and Al Khader.

The lookout is on the street level. It offers scenic views of the city and valley.
On top of the hill there is a large mosque, which towers over the modern town. On the site there was an Ayyubid fortress, destroyed by invading Mongols in 1260, rebuilt a year later by Mameluk rulers from Egypt, demolished yet again in 1840.
