Established by the Foundation Aldo Rubino in 2012, based on his collection of contemporary art from Argentina and other countries, specialized in geometric abstraction.

The building with glass façade was designed by the architecture studio Vila Sebastián Arquitectos. The total surface destined to the activities of the museum amounts to 1,600 sqm, with 5 floors connected through a ramp.

Aldo Rubino started to collect at the end of the 1980s. Over the years he defined its profile based on contemporary local and international art with a special a focus on geometric abstraction.

For the MACBA the importance of geometric abstraction in Argentina justifies the existence of a collection which has as its goal, to research and narrate its history, contextualize it and enhance it.

Today, the museum includes works of the most representative tendencies of international geometry. Nevertheless, the expansion to other languages is foreseen as part of the dynamism that is proper to any collection.
