The art fair and events at Madinat Jumeirah

Art Dubai 2011, held from 16 to 19 March 2011 at Madinat Jumeirah, was the largest edition of the fair to date. It attracted more than 20,000 guests, with a 30 percent increase in international visitors. Underscoring its role as a vital cultural meeting point connecting the Middle East and Asia with the rest of the world, Art Dubai 2011 was attended by curators, collectors, gallerists, artists, museum directors and more than 60 museum groups.

Besides of the participation of more than 81 galleries from over 34 countries, the 5th edition of Art Dubai featured an extensive program, including: the Global Art Forum_5, which started at the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha on 14 March, and continued from 16 to 18 March in Dubai; Art Dubai Projects 2011; Bidoun Projects; Abraaj Capital Art Prize with works by this years' winners Hamra Abbas, Jananne Al-Ani, Shezad Dawood, Nadia Kaabi-Linke and Timo Nasseri, with guest curator Sharmini Pereira.
