Gunungan of Pulpit
Surau Langgar, Kelantan, 1874, angsana and cendal woods
The ornate headboard of the Mimbar (pulpit) is in the shape of a "gunungan" (cosmic mountain) carved in Langkasukan style, with the characteristic uptilted ends of the tendrils. The lower edge features a fine scroll of Islamic calligraphy containing a verse from the Koran.
